Vintage Bacchus and Nymph 18k Gold Pendant

This remarkable (and remarkably heavy at nearly 20 grams!) vintage Seidengang 18k gold pendant features Bacchus reclined and sharing wine with a nymph. The rendering is wonderfully detailed like the bas-relief sculptures of the ancient world after which it is inspired. The mounting is so generously-formed, with an intricate splashy cutout on the back and an enhanced bale with a built-in clasp so that this monumental pendant can easily be suspended from a gold chain of equal standing.
