Antique Victorian Rose of Sharon Amethyst Diamond Seed Pearl 10k Gold Ring

This thoroughly romantic Victorian ring features a rose de France amethyst with a rose of Sharon intaglio carved into the surface. Enlivened with gold leaf and a dew drop of a diamond, the motif historically represents perseverance and was a popular gift for women who were separated from their beloved by war, with hopes of their safe return. These became popular sweetheart rings during the Civil War. Seed pearls and low prongs surround the central gem, and very strong shoulders ground its sweetness with a bit of structure. Energetic engravings trail down the band before fading into a wide sleek shank.
