Antique Victorian Cameo 14k Gold Wide Band

The remnants of five time-worn cameos are bezel set across the arc of a wide low band in this Victorian 14k gold ring. Each would have originally shown a portrait in profile in either coral, mother of pearl or two-toned shell, but time has softened each piece in that particular unrepeatable way of over a hundred years of wear. The result is a ghostly pastel dreamworld, both antique and yet surprisingly contemporary in its washed tones.
