Antique Georgian c. 1800-1810 18k Gold Foil Backed Rose Cut Diamond Cluster Ring
Lauded as the “most romantic” diamond cut, the rose cut diamond is flat on the bottom with a mound of little triangular facets which gently wink in low lighting. This antique Georgian c. 1800-1810 ring is completely encrusted with them, each in a silver collet setting which enhances their foil-backed foggy glow. The silver face is set within a scalloped 18k gold mounting with split shoulders and subdued ornamentation. The backside of the ring features the famed “radiant posterior” so beloved in Georgian jewelry. While this cluster ring looks vaguely floral, its sweetness is offset by the uncanny depths of the diamonds within the centuries-old silver patina.
