Antique Georgian Almandine Garnet 18k Gold Ring

This antique Georgian foil backed almandine garnet 18k gold ring looks as though it was plucked straight out of a painting. The opulence of the design is balanced by its refined stature, which features no lack of ornate yet bold embellishments at every angle. The underside of the ring carries the theme with its remarkable floral engravings and rotund shape. The bezel-set garnet and surrounding mounting likely predates the ring's shank, dating to the 1700s, and is either Iberian (Spanish/Portuguese) or Italian in origin.
