Antique French 18k Gold Rose Cut Diamond & Ruby Augis Love Charm Pendant
“Each day I love you more, today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.” This beautiful passage, written by Rosemonde Gerard, is an excerpt from a poem she wrote for her husband in 1889. But the poem wouldn’t be popularized as a sentiment of love until the French Jeweler Alphonse Augis conceptualized the quote into the "Medaille d'amour" in 1907. This stunning piece, hallmarked for Augis, is one of the early editions of the highly coveted medallions and in the large size, weighing a substantial 7.5 grams. It features the famous line in French embellished with five rose cut diamonds and three ruby baguettes. A wreath of laurel leaves and blossoms surrounds the pendant on the back and front, and an energetic burst of etching radiates from the center outward, creating dynamic movement all around. This is the finest version of the "Medaille d'amour" that we have ever had, and sure to be a feather in the cap of any collector.
